The Beadle. Was a massive Irish navvy, of short stature. He was very sociable and would go to the 'Irish National' (Club). He lived in West Lane, and used to go around with 'Widow' Tush a well known lady, who lived by the Brown Cow pub in Turkey Street. (Brown Cow pub is still there)
Lordy, I love to read of Old Folks like these and places like the Brown Cow Pub...that is still there. So much of old Chattanooga and Signal Mountain, Tennessee, are being torn down in the name of "progress" and no records are being kept. Our children will be the losers. A shame. Keep up the very good work you guys are doing there in Keighley.
