I'm featured in this week's Keighley News plugging the Men of Worth Project!
They quote me and everything. Even a picture of my mug. It even looks like me too.
Trouble is I can't recall giving any interview so I don't now how they've got me saying those words. I'm assuming they've picked up on a forum post I've made somewhere. I wasn't actually going to roll out the project until we'd got some members and funding sorted out.
Oh well, they do say there's no such thing as bad publicity.
First I'd heard of it was when I got an email yesterday evening from a lady saying she'd seen my article in the Keighley news and asking me if I could research the name of her great uncle in the Great War.

Dunno, I'm really puzzled because I'd hoped to launch at or near to the date of my talk to KDLHS in June, so I'm pretty sure they haven't had anything from me offering to feld questions from the website. I think it's been cobbled together fom website snippets and forum posts.
Stangely enough I'd been writing an email about the project to Alistair Shand earlier this week. I've just checked and its still in my drafts folder and hasn't been sent in error.
I'm quite pleased it's in but it's a teeny bit early as the group hasn't been formally set up yet although there's enough interest for it.
I've been reliably informed that we should be able to get an Acorn Fund grant to kick start us off as a new group and that willl allow us to organise a meeting and ratify the constitution officially/set up a bank account and start an application for a larger grant fund to aid our research.

What with my other news, I wondered if someone had been talking... Not anyone here. Just someone I know who knows a lot of people...

Honest not me.......................not been talking to anyone lately........not in any depth the picture wasn't off Facebook was it.....only picture I have of you was the Riddlesden one where you were discussing Men of Worth with Betty.

Been over and met Dr George Ingle today, he has kindly given lots of his photographs & documentation to the society. Including his dissertation........

I will be scanning it all and adding some of it to the website..............
