I have just been reading on the Keighley News online about the large collection of old postcards being auctioned off. These include many historic photos of Keighley and District. It would be a real shame if these are "lost" again to a private collection and not displayed somewhere for public viewing. I have sent in a comment suggesting that the Keighley News might lead a campaign to find a benefactor to purchase the Keighley cards for posterity with this Society and /or the library and Cliffe Castle being suitable locations to display them.Maybe this Society can appeal to suitable business' for help? It will need quick money as the auction is on Tuesday! Cheers.

I have a copy of the picture reproduced in the Keighley News and also one at the same spot taken while the line was being tested prior to the official opening. The location is the terminus at Utley. The Ashbourne Road location suggested in the KN cannot be correct for a couple of reasons. Ashbourne Road from Queens Road to Broomhill Avenue didn't exist when the electric trams commenced. The short section from Ingrow Lane to Broomhill Avenue did exist but ended in a dead end at a field just beyond Ingrow School. The Trams in Keighley only ran to the suburbs along South Street, Bradford & Skipton Roads with a branch line into the workshops at the junction of Queens Road/South Street.
