I have just been to look at what remains of Grove Mill - a couple of weeks ago the top floor area and roof were removed, today the mill is almost gutted, very little remains.......... Anyone any idea what is happening...the stone appears to be neatly piled, so does not look as if a collapse is the problem................... I amongst many are upset - what a horrid end to such a wonderful old building.................especially as, although not listed was to be preserved..................!!! I took a lot of photographs....will download them later. Jan

Keighley mill / K N 10:50am Saturday 20th February 2010
Major alteration work to the outside of Grove Mills, at Ingrow, is authorised, according to a spokesman for Bradford Council’s planning department.
He was responding in the wake of concerns raised by some members of Keighley Town Council earlier this month. The Grove Mills site is currently being converted into houses and flats by developer Skipton Properties.
Councillor Graham Mitchell said he was disturbed to see that large parts of the main mill’s roof had been removed.
Speaking at the latest monthly town council meeting, he said he had understood permission was given to allow the building to be turned into flats on condition that the outside of the property would be preserved.
Cllr David Miller, who chairs the town council’s planning committee, said he was not aware of any planning permission to demolish sections of the building. But a Bradford planning spokesman said: “This building is not listed, nor is it in a conservation area, so no permission is needed to alter the exterior of the building.”
Skipton Properties said the firm had nothing further to add to Bradford Council’s statement.

Surely you are all missing the point. The whole idea is for Skipton Properties to make as much money as possible.
I remember their lot turning up in Oakworth unannounced early one Sunday morning to chop a tree down that was supposed to be 'protected'. They were happy to pay the 3 grand fine before making a huge amount of moey on the houses they built there.
