Can anyone tell me which year George W Dale was Mayor of Keighley. It would be late 1950's early 1960's. He was Chief Cashier at Martins Bank in Keighley & I wish to trace any photos or articles about him for a new archive web site www.martinsbank.co.uk

Seems rather strange that list for Keighley, Im sure three of the Mayors in the late 50's - 60's were Councillors Walton, John Binns and Joe Nolan, none are listed. (I played the organ for Mr Nolans mayoral service at Lund Park Meths, and John Binns worked at DSG with my father)
Later edit, its OK , I found them - the way the columns scroll on the website looks as though they are listed under Ilkley. The site is very confusing!
George Dale was 1963-64

I agree would have been much better had they used separate pages for each authority.

Many thanks for your help. I will now try to find relevant articles, pictures etc from the Keighley News for that year. I agree, the list of Mayors on the Bradford web site is very confusing. Even with your comments to help it took me some time to find the list for 1933 to 1973.

The last ever proper mayor of Keighley - before Bradford Council swalled us whole - was my uncle Brian ! (Brian Welham) He is still about, and I often bump into him in the garden centre when I'm not bumping into Jan.

Cream cakes on you next time Rob.......lol By the way, if you are allowed into the Town Hall, not sure of the protocols, there are pictures all around the chamber with the mayors of Keighley. It is a wonderful place to visit. Jan

On a visit North on Fri.26 Feb I managed to persuade my wife to go shopping (!!) and I spent most of the day in Keighley. I was allowed into the Council Chamber (fascinating), and located the picture of my former colleague George Dale in his Mayoral robes (1963/4). The reference library also provided some relevent K.News articles. Many thanks to you all for your help. Incidentally you might like to take a look at www.martinsbank.co.uk following links to -Branches - Craven District- Keighley.
