Now this should spark a bit of debate, other than the fish 'n' chip shop, which is the oldest takeaway in town? i.e. Chinese or Asian? I can remember the Mai Kwai on North St, but can't remember if it was a takeaway or just a restaurant.? My problem is I'm far too young! and which was the first Asian Restaurant? My memory is saying Moghuls on North St, but perhaps someone knows better?

The Mai Qwai as far as I remember was a restaurant, it was upstairs near The Star on North Street.....BUT there was another Chinese on College Street called the Ping Hong....not sure how long or when that was there either.................

The Mai Kwai was certainly a restaurant. I took a girl there on a date in 1965 and it was awful . I think it had been open a few years then , so Id guess at somewhere between 1958- 1960, but I don't think it was ever a takeaway

Surely title of oldest takeaway in Keighley must go to the first fish and chip shop opened in Keighley, don't know which it was but it certainley pre dates the Chinese and Indian takeaways
