Has anyone any info on the Waverley Hotel on Fleece St? Apparently according to the electoral rolls it was still in use in the early 1950's.

Not much Eric I remember it as a Temperance residential hotel it didn't possess a public bar or anything like that. The entrance was on Fleece Street with the accomodation at the rear of the Royal Arcade.
I have notes regarding other Temperance Hotels in Keighley - Lonsdales existed in the 1840's. Pickles Temperance Hotel may have also had a music hall available in the 1870's and perhaps the best known in Cavendish Street - Tunnicliffes Imperial Hotel that was still going strong as a restaurant & function suite in the 1970's although I seem to remember you could purchase drinks if attending a function.

Eddie
When one of the Royal Arcade visits was on, one group went up a level as well as down a level, and I believe someone took a picture of the sign for the Temperance Hotel which was on a wall.
I think it was Pat - our Membership Sec so will ask her.................
Fabulous that all this information come to the fore and triggers off more memories.
Thanks Eric & Eddie

How appropriate to temperance that we are invited to indulge in the oXo factor.
