Hi all
Can anyone help my friend Sue with her query to me via e-mail................will send any responses onto her.
Thanks
Jan
I’ve got a query which maybe you could help me with. My boss wants to know a little bit more of the history of the building we’re in at work. We’ve been told it was once a place where pet food was made some time prior to when we bought it 10 years ago but a 90 odd year old father of a local horse rider says that it was once the stables for Oakworth Mill when James Haggas owned the mill. He says there were two teams of shires, one horse would pull a cart down to the station, then when loaded up with grain the two shires would be hooked up and pull the cart back to the mill. As one team went down the other team would be heading back up. Two men worked looking after the horses, George Nicholls & Dave Fryer. The building burnt down about 1920ish and the horses escaped into the fields behind. My boss wants to know when this new building was built, how would we find out that information Jan? Or any more history about it. We’re at Grey Scar House, Grey Scar Road, Oakworth.
