This British Library Datasbase of forty nine19th Century Newspapers has gone online in the UK this morning newspapers.bl.uk/blcs/The link takes you to the login/ registration screen. There is a charge both for viewing & downloading Daily £6.99 - 100 downloads 7 Day £9.99 - 200 downloads. This is the same resource released in the US about 18 months ago which had free access for a few months. Free access is still available in any British Library reading room - I think the nearest is Boston Spa.

I am in possession of a 'Souvenir' edition of the Keighley News published in 2007. It contains selected pages from a number of editions over the years, including 1862 (first edition), 1901 (Queen Victorias death), 1912, 1918, 1937 (KRLFC at Wembley), 1945 (VE Day), 1956 (Fire at Eastwood Mills), 1962 (Mechanics fire), 1968 (Worth Valley Railway), 1970 (new Airedale Hospital) and 1981(new probe on Ripper, and the murder near Slippery Ford), 2000 (floods) Obviously there is a huge amount of stuff here that would be appropriate for this site, but I am not sure how best to handle it. I could feed a few snippets through from time to time but thats about all I would have time for ! I haven't even read it properly yet. Perhaps Jan or Andy could advise, maybe it should be in a separate thread on the Keighley News
