Not sure if this has come up before but where does the name 'Guardhouse' originate? Obviously some sort of military building. I hear The Presbystery up West Lane has 'The Guardhouse' etched in stone above the door.

Hi Dalesman I think there is something about Guard House in Ian Dewhirst's 'A History of Keighley' 2006. I have a piece written which I found in the Library saying that "Guard House was an area possibly named after a Parliamentary Garrison during the Civil War". hope this helps. Jules
