It will be lovely to get all these added, I had no idea, there were so many spread around the town....................... Thank you Geoffrey - I am looking forward to meeting you and downloading the images you are sharing with us all. Thank you so much. Jan

Had a lovely chat with Geoffrey this morning, lovely man with an amazing collection of photographs. We are so lucky on our Forum to have so many people who have had the foresight to take pictures of things - which are now have almost all disappeared. Geoffreys collection of Telephone Boxes will be added to the web site, along with the post boxes.......................(thanks to Derek I have many postboxes more to mark off the list) I can only say, thank you to our members who have so much to offer. Thanks Geoffrey Jan

I recently read in a magazine an article about a red phone box in a village, which BT said had not been used for over a year. They were intending to remove it but the villagers had other ideas and got together a scheme for rescuing it. They were helped by the fact that a descendant of the original designer of the Red Boxes, Giles Gilbert Scott, lived in the village. If anybody or group feels the same abou t a box in their area, then a visit to the following website could be of assistance. www.payphone.bt.com Click on overview or home and see "Adopt a kiosk"

The telephones were removed from the old red phoneboxes in Laycock and Goose Eye about a month ago, the engineer said they weren't going to be replaced. In the short amount of time that they have not been operational the condition of both boxes appears to have deteriorated quite a lot. I'm assuming that both boxes will be left where they are, without phones - but is anyone responsible for maintaining them? At the moment it appears that they'll be two rust buckets come autumn... I'll take a photo of the one in Goose Eye to see how it compares now with the one posted earlier in the thread.

Attached is a photo of the phone box in Goose Eye taken this afternoon. Hard to take one of the whole box as the pub had a hog roast recently which is still being tidied up but the difference in the state of the box should be clear enough. Windows on the sides are aready broken and the inside is in a terrible state. Attachments:
