Many of the us in the history society are dismayed to lose yet another piece of our culture & history.
This prestigious work of art, has been removed - this represented the power and industrial heritage of the town.
Another item removed is the plaque which was placed when the then mayor Sydney Bancroft opened the market.........is this going to be replaced?
I would welcome your comments on the removal of this sculpture and plaque just two more items which has disappeared from our town.
The sculpture is to be displayed in Our Lady of Victories school grounds.
Perhaps you could support those of us who would like to see this wonderful piece of art displayed elsewhere in our town...........where we can ALL enjoy it.
Write to Keighley Town Council, The Keighley News, or anyone who you think can help reverse this decision.

Hi Jan
"They" are only following a trend set years ago when the Market Cross was moved about, why should BRADFORD be any different.
What interests me is when "Our Lady of Victories School is merged "for the greater good" with Orkney Islands Schools or other organistaions to form the "Greater Catholic United College" (the headquarters of Course will not be in Keighley) what will happen to the work of art then?.

Apparently it will come back (no idea when) so took a picture of it today in the school grounds - whilst on the way back from Laycock Gala....... The brass plaque will also be back at the request of the society it has been located and will be placed above a bench inside the Market Hall later this month. Jan
