Roman Catholics (St Annes?) had a youth hostel/home? in the Pinfold in the early thirties, for children who were refugees from the Spanish Civil War, and they played games of football against local schools. e.g. Oakworth. school.
Are there any photos of Pinfold kicking about? I'd love to see what it was like (a real squalid area was how my nan described it). Did it stand where the current sorting office is at the bottom of Oakworth Road?
Hi im Lewis the post office is where westgate ran through ,the pavement to the right side of the building is where the Bay Horse was if you look at my site i have plenty information even a map that overlaps the new showing exactly where things where. The Upper Green Congregational Chapel was on Mill St approx where Salvation Army is now. See Westgate on my site and the now and then pages
richardjudson: You have an entry for Harry Judson, (I5071) son of Fanny Binns and Greenwood Judson. I have Harry Ingham Judson in my records as died 20th March 1951. I went to visit his grave in Barnet, Herts last month. I imagine I may have it wrong somewhere(?)
