You must be referring to Henry C Longsdon who in 1901 lived at Thorn Croft in Long Lee with his wife Annie, a son, a daughter, a nephew and 4 servants. His occupation is described as 'Laundry Engineer - employer', and he originated from Seacroft. He wasn't the first lord mayor of Keighley (that being Benjamin S Brigg in 1882), but he was mayor from 1899 to 1902. He presented the freedom of the Borough of Keighley to Andrew Carnegie in 1900 for his generous donation of £10,000 to build the free public library. Apparently one of the houses at Keighley Boys Grammar School was named after him. The Longsdon's also get a mention on the town council website in a piece on the Mayoress's chain: - www.keighley.gov.uk/history/KeighleyTownCouncil01.htmHope that helps. Mike.
