John Waddington Esquire was one of three JPs present at a Special Quarter Sessions held in Settle in 1727. The others were Henry Currer (Kildwick) and Samuel Swire (Cononley (possibly Woodside)) can anyone give me any information on where JW came from. These would be hight ranking individuals and most probably wealthy.

Hi - it's possible he was from Keighley. There was a John Waddington baptised 1687. There may be more detail in the History of Craven, if you can get hold of a copy.
