We have had a phone call today from the owner of a house called Fairfax Copy in Long Lee, near Currer Laithe Farm, she wanted to know if the group knew anything about its history. I told her she could find out who lived there in 1901 by looking on the census website.
Does anyone know this house and its history? Pauline, the owner said she thinks it has something to do with Lord Fairfax.

Small extract from J Horsfall Turner's book on Ancient Bingley:
'Fairfax Coppy (Fairfax-wood) is popularly attributed to the presence here of the great Parliamentary general, but the long series of entrenchments from Harden to Harden Moor are of far more ancient date than Fairfax after whom they are now named.'
On the 1901 census I can see a Copy Farm on Moss Carr Road (presumably the same one). Living there were John Lingwood (Worsted Overlooker) from Coventry and his wife Mary from London.
