Does any one have any information about, or remember, the Wyedean Weaving Company in Haworth (where was it??). It was founded about 1964 by David Wright with machinery he bought from Dalton and Barton in Coventry when they went bust. He was a director of Dalton and Barton which was a Coventry Company founded in 1851. I assume they used jacquard looms from the bookmarks I have seen which are occasional sold at auction .... coincidentally 1964 was the summer I spent working at Calmon's Weaving in the middle of town, behind where Morrison's is now, near the market. They operated jacquard looms and wove silk clothing labels for the likes of M & S, Burton's etc.. At University all my mates had expensive sleeping bags with labels from the places they had been around the world, sewn on ... as I had been nowhere and done nothing much, I sewed all the different clothing labels which Calmon's produced onto my cheapo sleeping bag just to take the p**s!!

Thanks fsharpminor, that is excellent. I though I was looking for a long gone broken down building!!! And the number of times I have passed that building over the years!! I am looking at the various weaving companies in Coventry who produced badges for athletic clubs over the years, and wondered if the Wyedean Weaving Company had followed in a similar fashion to Dalton and Barton.
