I have done a search 'Keighley Parish Church' for information without success - and there seems no thread just for the Parish Church, hence my new thread. My plea for help ..... 'Keighley Parish Church Athletic Club' was a generic term for a club encompassing all sports. The Vicar was the ex-officio chair of the elected committee. In 1899 (possibly the following year) the clubhouse was decorated at great expense, with an uncleared overdraft in excess of £53 some four years later! The clubhouse served football, harriers, hockey teams with a snooker room and small gymnasium (for the competitive gym club). It was somewhere in West Lane - BUT WHERE? It seems to have been further up the Lane than the National School, which to me, would be the logical place, but tit bits of information suggest elsewhere. Does any one have any ideas. One thought would be that a youth club might have taken up residence when such clubs became popular at a later time? Was there a cycling clubhouse in West Lane in the 1950s?

Hi again harrier. Somewhere in my far distant memory I can remember my father taking me into a gym in Keighley, I think either at the bottom of West Lane or behind the shops at the top of High Street. I remember someone lifting me up, I was about 4 or 5 years old, to punch a punch bag.
This came up in discussion on here some years ago and someone else remembered that gym. Same one that you are talking about? Who know's.It is something I have always remembered. Cheers.
