As a very young child I lived in Tyne Street Parkwood. Talking with my mum and we were trying to remember the name of the people that had the shops on Parkwood Street. I remember Waterworths newsagents without any help as they were friends with my grandparents, but who had the other shop next door. It sold groceries and this would have been the mid 1960s. I thought it was called Hudson's, but my mum says Pickles's ran it. Any help please. I would also like to know if anyone knows if there used to be a fire station on Parkwood Street, possibly near the Globe. Thanks for reading.

I lived in Alpha Street for a couple of years 1945-47. Age 9-11. I think the grocer/general store on the corner of Alpha Street was owned by Mr and Mrs Linyard.(or similar) That store is long gone. There was a Betty Waterworth in my class at Parkwood school. Nice girl. In those days the fire station was near the bridge on Coney Lane which is/was not far away from the Globe but certainly not on Parkwood Street. Cheers.
