My great grandfather was Michael Carroll who lived in Keighley until his death in 1961. He was publican of the Brown Cow Inn and also was an alderman of the town serving on the council from 1920 to 1959 almost continuously. As someone of Irish descent he was also very involved in campaigning for the Irish cause being actively involved in Keighley in the Catholic Club, the Home Rule Club, the Irish National Cub and the Shamrock Club. He was also involved in the Irish United League. I recently found an old minute book which minuted the meetings of these Irish clubs between 1919 and 1926.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who knew or knew of my great grandfather, or who remembers the clubs mentioned or knows anything about them.
Many thanks
Tracy
