iN 1945 at the end of the war I moved back home from my grandparents on Parkwood to my home in Long Lee. As post-war teenagers there was little to do, and we woulld congregate around the seat at the end of Moss Carr Road most evenings and every Sunday afternoon. In summer we used to walk up Harden Road and take the 'old road' down to B ingley and then walk back again. Sometimes we would decide to walk to Harden for a change of scenery. I often wonder if the 'old road' is still there, it went the length of St. Ives Estate and ended at the little bridge over the river in Bingley.

Altar Lane? Pretty much a muck track, a think a bridle way now. That run from Harden Road, right down to Bingley. Emerges, just above the Brown Cow pub...

I live in Long Lee very near Moss Carr Road Altar lane is gravelled from the brown cow until 3/4 the way up altar lane then there's a gate across the lane to staop traffic driving onto Harden road from that point its a bridleway until Harden road.
