Hi, just wondering if anyone knows if theres any other way, apart from using the expencive sites, of tracking your family tree. Im cannot get past my great grand parents as my grandad does not know the names of his grandparents and I am not able to find my great grandmothers birth certificate. As she was born in 1921 I cannot use any of the census' till I find out who her parents were. Thanks Corrina

Hi Corrina, what are the names of your family you are looking for, for instance what is grandads name and when and where was he born, what are grandmas names who was born in 1921, her birth entry should list her mothers maiden name. Im a member of most of the family history websites and could easily check these for you. Josie

My Grandads name was Fred Nicholson born 1943 in Keighley. My Great-grandmother was Irene Nicholson, Maiden name Riddy. I believe she was born in Stockton but lived mostly in Keighley. I have joined up to the genes reunited website before but as I couldnt find any information for her I left and am reluctant to spend any more money as i'm beginning to think she doesn't exsit. If I remember correctly I don't think I could even find her death entry! Thank you very much for helping! Corrina

Hi Corrina I have subscriptions to nearly all the sites and love doing the research. If you like I will give yours a go. I'm so glad you liked the photo of your grandad which I sent to you last night.
Having no luck at all with Irene,do you have a date of birth. The Nicholson are so much easier and I thought they would be the hardest.
Ah could this be her Irene Nicholson born 20/7/1921 died keighley Nov 2003?

If I can't find her you would maybe have to get her marriage certificate to Stewart Nicholson, that will give her dads name and occupation.

Just thought i'd let you know why its not possible to find her, Having spoken to Wendy, I've been told her parents weren't married when they had her, so although we all knew her as Irene Riddy, her birth certificate her birth certificate is Riddy-Davis. Thank you for your help MaryB

Yeah I think she did tell me, but im at uni at the moment and left everything at home, I think I have it written down on a peice of paper at home but honestly could not remember what they were called. I think she said something about her dad being from Hartlypool? But then my greatgran was born in Stockton so they may have lived there most of their lives. Corrina

Hello
If you want to look for you family you could always try free BMD which is roughly like ancestry or find my past, but for free.

Hi, thanks for the information. Im actually using the Ancestory.co.uk site at the moment on a two week free trial then cancelling it before you have to pay stupid amounts. But as i'm a student with nothing better to do as its the summer holidays, ive managed to get back to the 1600's. But I will give that a shot when the trail runs out! Thanks Corrina
