You can call me a sentimental old git and I won't mind, but I just sat through 2 hours of Richard Sharp, it might have been Sharpe's Revenge or Justice or summat, and it was supposedly set in Keighley which was referred to several times. Skipton was mentioned once and I'm sure that I recognised East Riddlesden Hall. I read somewhere in the last couple of years, might have been on here or in the K.News that an episode was filmed on the moors around Keighley and there were several moorland shots. I don't know how old this series is but I have only seen a few of them originally and now they are being shown on a secondary channel and I found them by accident a few weeks ago and it is, they are compulsary viewing for me now. Of course I have been aware of the Keighley connection for sometime now re Christopher Ingham and it just gives this old Keighlian the warm and fuzzys! Cheers.

I didnt know of a Keighley connection with Sharpe. My nephew (a Keighley lad, but not there now) and his wife, asked for a complete DVD set of Sharpe for Christmas. It was relatively cheap from Amazon. There were lots of Sharp(e)s in Keighley at one time, two in my class at KBGS. We called them 'with' and 'without' as one had an 'e' and the other didnt.

A bloke who I used to walk with, when out with the dogs, told me that Sharp was actually taken from one of his ancestors who is buried at Utley cemetery. He also told me that loads of people make the pilgrimage to see the grave. I have no idea if it is true but he wasn't the sort to make up stories like that.

That would be Christopher Ingham, Les who I believe is buried in Utley cemetry and is the person believed to be the model for Sharpe. So your friend is probably correct. Cheers.

Yes, I've got a picture or three of his gravestone at Utley, which tells of his service in the Peninsular War.
