Hello All,
I hope someone may be able to help with this ?
I have a friend that lives in California USA, she believes that she has seen (a few years ago) a booklet/Pamphlet about Lothersdale and in this pamphlet her family name is mentioned, the family name is Bawdwen, she would dearly like to get hold of this pamphlet if at all possible, does anyone know if she can obtain a copy of this ?
Many thanks for any help that anyone can give,
baskerville.

There is a link to Bawdwen from Lothersdale. Stone Gappe Hall was once occupied by members of the Bawdwen family. The Hall is a Grade II listed building and details can be viewed on britishlistedbuildings.co.uk .- then England, North Yorkshire, Lothersdale, Stone Gappe.
Looking on the map I think this was occupied by a member of the McAlpine family when great changes where done to the grounds.

You're quite right beltedwill it was the McAlpine family but not only did they make alterations to the ground, they completely ripped the heart from the building leaving just a shell and then renovated it the way they wanted. One of the Bronte sisters was actually a nursemaid at Stonne Gap and it is mentioned in one of the books but I can't remember how it was named in the book or which book.

The Bawdwen family also had Ingthorpe Grange in Marton nr Skipton,it then passed to the Lace family whose decsendant was Henry Crofts Longsdon Mayor of keighley 1899-1902. The lace family also resided at Stone Gappe.
Ingthorpe Grange is now a high class B+B which can be viewed on Google.
Lots and lots of info on the Bawdwen/Bawden/Baldwin family on Google.
