Can you tell me if you have to book in advance to view old copies of the Keighley News?

I'am looking for info on two Keighley/Haworth men convicted at leeds 29/11/1875 and sent to prison for 10 years,any advice as to how I may check this info out.

Think you just need to check that there will be a reader available when you want to go.

Hello Maryb,
The Keighley News is on microfilm, upstairs in the Local Studies at Keighley Library, and you don't have to book - just hope that nobody has beat you to it! I think there areeither 2 or 3 readers. I was in there only this morning. Two of the fiche readers were on the blink, but didn't notice any danger notices on the microfilm machines. The phone number is 01535 618215.

I do know readers cannot be reserved. The Bradford Observer & Leeds Mercury are available online

I think the case you are referring too was reported in the Bradford Observer dated 3 December 1875. This can be viewed online if you have a Bradford Met Library Card.

Select 19th Century British Library Newspapers

Enter your library card number including any letters

From the Basic Search window enter Keighley

Check 'On' as the option for Publication Date

Select Year Month & Day 1875 Dec 03

Enter Bradford Observer as the Newspaper

Select Search then take the second option.

Thankyou everybody for your help,I don't have a Library card so I can't view the Bradford Observer.
If you have the details Kellytica could you PM me them.
I'm looking for info to confirm I'am looking at the right people before I go telling a relative about them.
