Being reasonably new I'm not sure whether or not there is a thread on this,so please excuse me if I've missed it. Does anybody remember The Converzaziones, better known as The Cons? I seem to think they lasted for a week and were on in January.I remember attending the Saturday afternoon session,so that must have been for children. There was something on each night,if my memory serves. Not too sure of details, but a lot of dancing was involved.

Absolutely elfremar. The Conversaziones were a tradition long before my time. I never went to the ones at the Municipal Hall, but I always went to the Cross Roads Cons held at Lees school. You are right in saying they were in January, usually third weekend, and Friday night was Old Time dancing, Saturday afternoon was childrens dancing where we did The Grand Old Duke of York, Hokey Cokey, and our favourite I think was "Hands, knees and bumps a daisy", great fun for us as kids to bang your bums together. We were so innocent! Then as you got a bit older you went on Saturday night to the Modern dancing session. Thanks for the reminder. Cheers.

Thanks for that barcroftlad, great memories.I seem to remember learning the square tango, but don't think that would have been at the children's dance.
