Thought I'd better add the details of the event here:
Saturday 2nd April 2011. 10.00 am to 4.00 pm at Central Hall on Alice Street. Refreshments wil be available. We'd like people to bring their photo albums and any other interesting historical items in for us to scan and add to the Keighley Digital Archive. We'll probably be having a book stall and maybe a raffle too and possibly even a few displays up for people to have a look at. Essentially it's the scanning of items for the digital archive. Let's also remember that your 10 year old picture of your pub football team (preferably with names for everyone on it) is as much a part of history as one from fifty or even a hundred years ago. History is being made every day so we're interested in anything to do with Keighley and district. So dig out your family albums and let's get scanning down at Central Hall! It's also a good excuse to have a nosey around Central Hall's new interior, which is very impressive indeed.
Regards, Andy.

That sounds like it just might be the old Central Youth Club where I spent many hours in my youth. We played a lot of table tennis and danced bebop, which was before rock'n' roll. Cheers.

That's the place. I visited it just the other night with someone who also remembered going to the youth club. She was amazed at the renovation work.

Hi Anne,
You could still arrange with us to bring in your photo albums some time for scanning for The Keighley Digital Archive.

I've just posted the event on Facebook here. If you're on Facebook and haven't got an invite, feel free to log in and add yourself as attending the event if you can come along. If you'd like to share it with your Facebook friends that would be great too! Cheers, Andy.

Hi Andy, I have just seen your reply regarding photo albums for the CY opened day this weekend, sadly I dont have any photos taken of myself or friends that did attend at the time I was a member and I believe that most of them are now living out of the Keighly area, myself including but I hope that the news of this event has travelled to Leeds,Bradford, and Skipton areas. I will look forward to seeing the photos of the event, on here or on Facebook. I have downloaded the banner for my own history files. I hope that you all have a great time!!!!!!!!!!

Just a reminder to everyone that the Central Hall event is tomorrow. 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Please come along and see us even if you're not bringing anything in to scan or photograph. Refreshments will be available and you can also have a nosey around the newly refurbished Central Hall!

Thanks to all who contributed to the setting up of the Open Day. it was great to meet up with the numerous Committee members and two of the verbal invites I made were gratefully accepted and the Society has now encouraged more Members to join, as a result Cheers

Whatever it was I was doing I would have stopped to meet you. Don't let me get away with it next time eh? Thanks very much to everyone for putting in a lot of hard work and especially to all those who brought things along for us to scan. We didn't have masses of items to scan but the quality was excellent and some really good items came in today. I've had a rest from it this evening but will have to start looking properly at things in the next few days, Mothers Day being tomorrow an' all. I've met a few people today with very interesting 'connections' with regard to the Men of Worth Project and I am sure these will lead to some good information being added to the database in the next few weeks. Cheers!

Some of the items were very interesting indeed - and over 500 scans done so a pretty productive exercise!
