Roman Catholics (St Annes?) had a youth hostel/home? in Pinfold in the early thirties, for children who were refugees from the Spanish Civil War, and they played games of football against local schools.

My nana said that she remembers the areas of Pinfold and Paradise - they were located at the bottom of Oakworth Road where the sorting office now stands. She remembers them as being one of the worst areas of Keighley to live in; tiny back to back terraces, squalid living conditions etc I'll have to ask her if she remembers anything about a youth hostel being there. It's long before my time!
