I'd also like to add my best wishes for this New Year to everyone.
We have a new event planned for the early part of this year, which will involve hiring a local hall 'Central' to Keighley, putting on 'a bit of a do' and asking people to bring in their own family photo albums for us to scan and archive. There must be literally thousands of personal pictures of Keighley folk and places which are now gone and which remain only in these family albums. Hopefully some of the churches and workplaces/schools/galas/sports events etc will be documented for us to scan them for our local archives.

Hi Andy
Does this mean that you are wanting 'volunteers' for this 'event'?
If so, I would be interested in the Memorials in the church yards, as many of the old photos will be just as significant as they will have been taken whilst the Memorials were in situ, before we started to deliberately 'flatten' and "landscape" history.

Hi Malcolm,
Probably. The main aim will be to get the pictures scanned in using our new scanner (which we haven't bought yet). We 'may' print them off at the time, laminate them and post them up on boards for a display - possibly to last a few weeks. It depends on whether that's a workable idea with KIVCA. We'll also be offering refreshments on the day. I am hoping to be able to extract pictures of anything that could be connected with the Men of Worth project. I hadn't thought about any memorial pictures but yes, if they are available then I think it's a good idea. But we really have no idea what is likely to come through the door on the day. As Dan mentioned by email, we will need to write to schools and other groups to see if they will pass the message on for people to bring albums in.
