AS many of you are aware I have been building a database of deaths and burial records for this area for years. A year ago I began to add marriages and birth/baptism records that were available to me. I have concentrated on 16th Century to 19th Century records as other are more readily available. As a by product of this work I have been studying the workload and mobility of the Rectors/vicars for the main churches as follows; Keighley Parish Church Haworth Parish Church Bingley Parish Church Kildwick Parish Church Colne Parish Church Addingham Parish Church Ilkley Parish Church Skipton Parish Church Burnsall Parish Church Linton Parish Church Others will be added as necessary. As a result of a Google search I came across this document and I commend Mrs Maltby on the methodology used and I am not ashamed to say that I shall be using it as the basis for looking at the Keighley area in a similar manner. www.localpopulationstudies.org.uk/PDF/LPS6/LPS6_1971_32-42.pdfMalcolm

Hi Macolm. I've been analysing the Kildwick registers over the last month, on and off between bouts of weather, with an interest in mobility and marriage horizons across parishes and time.
Sounds like we're working on almost the same thing. You'll have to give me a shout if you need a research assistant!!
Good luck!

Talk about mobility - how about this for mobility -
John Blakebrough and Helen Constantine were married on 13th February 1737 at Burnsall Parish church, but their banns were read on 3 consecutive Sundays prior at Bingley Parish Church by the Vicar T Ferrand.
It must have been love, as the travel between the two places would not have been easy.
