Peel Place was off South Street between Aireworth Street & Goulborne Street. The site is now occupied by Farish House.
Running from the Kings Head toward the Friendly Inn there was: Prospect Place; Peel Place; Portland Place; Regent Place & Aireworth Street.

Andy I'm keeping well but have been very busy recently but will be back to normal in about two weeks.
Georges Place is the name of the shop (still there) at the corner of South Street & Portland Place. It may have got its name from George Marshall who tenanted the premises in the 1870's when it was a grocers store. I am about to carry out some research into this property as I have good evidence to suggest it may have held a beer 'On' licence 1860's - 1870's. There were a few grocers shops of this kind selling groceries as well as providing facilities for beer consumption on the premises. The local licensing justices were not happy with this dual function, gradually removing the licences during the 1870's.
