I have a 'medal' issued in 1919, for the victory, obviously made for Keighley, it has the 'By Worth' badge. On the other side is the word 'Peace' with allegorical figures. It is lightweight and poor quality. My mother was at school in K. at that time so it may have been given to all schoolchildren.
Does anyone know for sure about the source of this item?
Allan

Pip, Squeak and Wilfred Three of the British campaign medals: The 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and the Victory Medal. Pip, Squeak and Wilfred are the affectionate names given to the three WW1 campaign medals — The 1914 Star or 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal respectively. These medals were primarily awarded to the Old Contemptibles (B.E.F.). and by convention all three medals are worn together and in the same order from left to right when viewed from the front. The set of three medals or at least the British War Medal and the Victory Medal are the most likely medals to be found among family heirlooms. Most WW1 soldiers who enlisted from the outset, got all three. Those who were conscripted later, only got Squeak and Wilfred. The ribbon in your pic looks right for Wilfred, but thats not the standard Victory medal, so teher must have been an additional commemorative one made for Keighley, of lower quality.

Thanks for that reply. Good idea re ribbon, but I possess a 1914-15 Star (from a great-uncle) and unfortunately the ribbon does not quite match. By the way, fsharpminor,if you had piano lessons in the 1950s in Keighley, your teacher might have been my granddad, Charlie Simpson. (!!) best wishes, Allan
