Well I hope someone's going to turn up because I only know of five people that have said they'll be there... I hope it's not just those five, me and the cat And I'm not sure about the cat either.

OK, the cat says he'll come but may have a snooze next to the digital projector as it gets nice and warm...
Any luck contacting the WR28 Home Guard chaps? I'd have thought they would have been interested in this talk. And we could do with getting them along for the History Day on 11th September, or at least sounding them out about it.
I've just realised that this is sounding a bit needy... It's not really, it's just that it's holiday season and lots of people are going away for the duration.

Andy, its quality, not quantity that matters !
My first public talk - at keighley library - was attended by just three. And one of those was Pauline, the librarian. David Kirkley and Andy Geary were the others.
I think the talk (on the history of sport in Keighley) coincided with a big footy match on telly.
Luckily there were many more when I ddi a similar thing for Haworth over-40s group a few months later.
Hope it goes well.

Well to a point I'd agree Rob, but every bum on a seat adds more money to the coffers of the History Society and we do need the support. And there was a lot of verbal support for the saving of the pillboxes, if we could get the word out there a bit better then I'd be happier about it. Apparently when Andy and Lewis put the posters up (for one of the talks earlier this year) in the bus station someone stuck their posters right over the top of them within hours. A bit frustrating.

What can I say Andy, your talk went down a treat. Everyone was interested - nobody snoring or talking...left the tomatoes with Faiz - says he can use them It was excellent, couldn't get much chance to talk to you - even outside.....everyone was clammering to talk to you and ask questions. Sorry to be a little rude, but needed to get your opinion on the talks for next year before we parted company. Jan

Thanks to Jan and Barcrofter and to everyone who has given me positive feedback on the talk, it's much appreciated. It was buzzing afterwards. I couldn't get away for questions afterwards. Not that I'm complaining, it was very enjoyable.
The listed status of the pillboxes and how we achieved it in such a short space of time is a great success story for us. There has been a lot of support from many people about the saving of this part of our history.
